Programs at The Leonardo
To complement your BODY WORLDS 3 visit, The Leonardo will offer a variety of free science/art events and programs for visitors of all ages. Check our Event Calendar for a list of free upcoming events
The Leonardo zone is on the building's first floor immediately after the exhibit gallery exit. This area of The Leonardo is dedicated to providing visitor experiences that are the core of the museum's principles — hands-on learning, self-directed education, cooperative partnerships and community sharing.
Visitors to this area can participate in our story booth, titled “Every BODY's Story”. Share your thoughts, feelings and questions about BODY WORLDS or tell us a story about your own health and body. Or, check out our Story Kiosk, where you can listen to stories recorded by other visitors to BODY WORLDS to find out how much you have in common and how unique your experience is.
Stop by our Demonstration Counter to translate your BODY WORLDS experience into hands-on science activities. Participate in a dissection, ask a health care professional about something you saw in the exhibit, check out tissue samples under a microscope and more.
Get off your feet in our Leo Lounge to unwind in our comfy seating. You can explore health questions on our digital anatomy computer stations with the help of our friendly volunteers.
Explore The Leonardo Wall, where you can leave behind your thoughts in a visitor mosaic, discover The Leonardo experience in our cell wall, and explore the future Leonardo at our membership desk.
The Leonardo Online Community
The Leonardo is experimenting with online programming by offering a blog about the insider's perspective at BODY WORLDS 3. You can read anecdotes from the staff's time at the exhibit, check out programs and community events we've hosted as part of BODY WORLDS, or just explore some of the behind-the-scenes information that makes BODY WORLDS a success.
We're also offering a series of podcasts by our talented online programs coordinator, Ross Chambless. These short interviews feature the geniuses, inventors, and all-around cool people who have made the exhibit a huge success in Salt Lake City.
We're hosting an [link to: http://theleonardo.org/bodyworlds/community/events/]anatomy drawing contest online[/link], with many sketches already contributed by people who attended our first Sketch Night (we have another one coming up on Nov. 5 — purchase tickets here!).
And we're collecting stories from visitors about their impressions of BODY WORLDS, funny things the exhibit reminded them of in their own bodies, or anything else they want to share with us in our on-site Story Booth.
Art at The Leonardo
As part of its commitment to the junction of art and science, The Leonardo is pleased to feature the work of several artists within the museum during BODY WORLDS 3.
The Leonardo commissioned a multimedia art piece for its main entrance lobby—"The Only Certainty: Death and TXTs" by Paul Notzold is currently accepting text messages from visitors.
We are also pleased to show the work of local artist Diann Harris-Wright on the building's third floor. Look for Ms. Harris-Wright's work during your third-floor private event.
Finally, The Leonardo is featuring the work of two artists in its Leo wall on the east side of the first floor. Look for Meridith Pingree's "Snowflake Hyperbolic" and Eric Overton's "Heart" as part of our cell wall. (Ask a staff member or volunteer to point the way if you need additional direction!)
