Marketing Internship
?The Leonardo is Utah’s new science, tech, and art center looking to engage an intern who wants to learn more about public relations, marketing, and social media in a Museum environment. This intern will work closely with the Marketing Team and receive an insider’s perspective on learning and promoting Salt Lake City’s newest museum. This internship will include activities that support the Museum’s exhibitions, public programming, and Museum shop. The right candidate will be energetic, curious and eager to make a difference in building The Leonardo.

Gene Lab: Lead Tech Internship
The Leonardo is Utah’s new science, tech, and art center looking to engage an intern who wants to learn many aspects of its science gallery. The Leonardo is hosting an authentic research study on the floor of the museum as part of an exhibit on the concept of identity; this study is being conducted by researchers from the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics and the Department of Psychology at the University of Utah. In addition to performing laboratory-related duties as outlined below, the Gene Lab Intern will be involved in outreach on the floor, seeding excitement and support for the sciences within the local community.

All volunteers will be trained to answer general information questions about The Leonardo, including Leonardo history, concept, impact on Salt Lake City scene, current exhibits, artist biographies, private events, food court hours, upcoming open events, ways to give, and how to get involved.
Greeters
Greeters cheerfully staff the main entrance, helping meet and greet all guests of The Leonardo. Duties include directing and advising visitors on the layout of the museum, especially regarding ticketing information and ADA accessible points.
Payment verification
Payment verifiers work to ensure all guests entering the paid areas of the museum have purchased tickets or have memberships. Duties include politely asking for payment verification, directing attendees and giving directions to areas within the museum, and redirecting non-paying guests back to ticket counter for payment transactions.
Exhibit floor: General
Exhibit floor volunteers work in exhibits throughout the museum space. Duties include watching guests to maintain safe experiences and politely maintaining expected behavior levels in specific areas.
Exhibit specialist: Digital Commons
Digital Commons volunteers assist with visitors experiencing varied, exciting, and unique aspects of hands-on animation by helping them create stop-animation films, shoot green screen, and edit into final projects. Volunteers should enjoy helping people of all ages and experience levels in the hands-on wonder of creating a digital world and assist in the step-by-step fundamentals of success in a digital format. Volunteers must have strong Windows 7 programming skills and experience with Auto Desk Motion Builder, as they will be assisting visitors use Ableton Live Music integration, 3D Connexion Space Navigation, and Dragon Stop 2D and 3D software.
Exhibit specialist: Gene Lab
Exhibit Specialists in the Gene Lab assist The Leonardo and The University of Utah conduct an authentic scientific study. Duties include facilitating process of collecting saliva samples from visitors; overseeing consent, sample collection, and psychology testing; and answering questions about the purpose and importance of the study. Applicants may have a science, biology, medical, or health care industry background, a passion for science and an enthusiasm for bringing research into the public realm.
Exhibit specialist: Lab @ The Leo
Volunteers in Lab @ The Leo help support rotational artists in their experiences and interactions with visitors in a studio type environment. Volunteers should love the artistic process and community involvement, be outgoing, and enjoy interacting with and helping individuals of all ages and skill levels. If you love tinkering, building, teaching, and assisting others in a "hands-on" approach, then please bring your enthusiasm for making a difference in the endless possibilities in this unique, positive, and creative space.
Exhibit specialist: Otto Bock
Volunteers in the Otto Bock exhibit area are in a unique environment where visitors can try on prosthetics to experience what it would be like to be an amputee. Duties include fitting prosthetics to visitors, stabilizing visitors as they stand/walk/move in prosthetics, and collecting prosthetics after demo. Volunteers are trained to answer questions about innovation, amputation, mobility, and engineering; maintain the integrity and functionality of the exhibits; and fitting appropriate prosthetics to visitors based on weight and other factors. Physical requirements are the ability to lift 15 lbs and stand for up to 2 hours at a time, though accommodations can be made if needed.
Education
Education volunteers assist The Leonardo in hosting field trips for Utah schools. Duties include preparing supplies and prepping and cleaning classrooms; supervising students and chaperones; and directing visitors to various areas throughout the museum. Volunteers are trained to participate in the grant documentation and evaluation process, participate during workshops with inquiry-based facilitation, and answer questions on exhibits and concepts. Applicants should have an interest in informal teaching, be self-motivated and work well under pressure in a team environment.
