Shadow Hunt
|
August 8 - September 2
|
Shadow Hunt: a collaborative Video Art Project. Have you ever hunted for shadows? Shadows can be just as interesting as an object lit up by light. This month is Light month at The Leonardo and we have many exhibits that use light as an expressive medium. With so much light in the museum, there is bound to be just as many shadows. You now have the opportunity and the challenge of finding interesting shadows and documenting them with a flip cam. Your shadow discoveries will be part of a collaborative video art piece shown online in September.
This is a drop-in activity. Arrive anytime during the allotted hours. No reservation required.
Color Shadow Sculptures

Shadows can be more than just black! The primary colors of light are red, green and blue, or RGB. Experiment with different combinations of these colors to create every color you can think of in the form of shadow sculptures.

Ice Bubbles

Jiggly Gel Optics
|

How does light interact with gelatin? Light beams can be bounced around and bent in many different ways, but have you ever jiggled light? Create handmade jiggly lenses and prisms out of gelatin and see what happens!

Bring us light! Participate in our Painting with Light photo project where you will learn how to draw with light using a camera and an assortment of light sources. We encourage you to bring your own light sources and your own creative ideas for a light painting. Using light as an art medium, this activity will help you to understand the basic idea behind photographic exposures.
