The Leonardo Offers Free Memberships for Utah Educators
--All K-12 and Home School Educators Eligible
--Offer Part of Access The Leo Program
SALT LAKE CITY, Apr. 10, 2012—The Leonardo (www.theleonardo.org), a contemporary museum connecting science, technology and creativity, today announced it will provide free memberships to Utah teachers.
“Educators are key partners with The Leonardo in making Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fun, interesting and relevant for students,” said Executive Director Alexandra Hesse. “It is our honor and pleasure to offer this benefit to Utah teachers, and we look forward to working together to inspire our state’s next-generation innovators.”
Beginning immediately, all K-12 and home school educators can enjoy all the benefits of being a member of The Leonardo at no cost. Educator Memberships give teachers a new way to fuel their personal curiosity – and to get creative ideas for field trips and classroom activities. Membership benefits include unlimited admission, an unlimited number of $7 guest passes, 10 percent off all gift shop purchases and master classes, special VIP exhibit previews, and member-only events. Teachers can also apply the $45 value toward an upgrade to any other membership level.
Access The Leo: Today’s announcement is part of the Access The Leo initiative, an evolving initiative designed to ensure visitors of all economic, social and cultural backgrounds can enjoy the benefits of The Leonardo. Other elements of Access The Leo include:
$7 Wednesdays: All day every Wednesday admission to The Leo is just $7
Salt Lake City Library’s Community Exploration Program: Provides free general admission for up to four people to The Leonardo
Association of Science and Technology Passport Program: Become a member of The Leonardo and get free admission and a variety of special member benefits at other out-of-town science centers and museums
The recently-launched Corporate Membership program will fund individual and family memberships
The Leonardo will continue to add components to the initiative to broaden access even more.
Educators can activate their memberships by visiting The Leonardo admissions desk with a document confirming employment (school ID badge, recent paystub, letter from school principal). All questions should be directed to Visitor Services Manager Mike Aguilar at maguilar@theleonardo.org.
