Exhibit Preview: Making Waves

Energy in all forms is transmitted in waves. Waves have certain characteristics and properties such as how often they occur (frequency) and how strong they are (amplitude). There are rules that direct how waves interact and move. Discover some of them by experimenting.

Making Waves

Making Waves
is a computer program that allows you to explore energy in a new way. When you work with this exhibit you can simply touch the screen and observe the wave patterns created by your fingers. You can even add barriers to the screen and observe how waves interact with solid objects. The exhibit has wide application as light and sound both travel in the same manner as the waves show in the simulation. Be creative as you create your own unique wave pool!

Core Curriculum Connections

Making Waves relates to the following Utah State Core Curriculum Standards and Intended Learning Outcomes (ILO)
- 8th Grade: Science 4.1c
