New Ways of Engaging: The Leonardo will be a place for encountering new phenomena, ideas and perspectives, as well as a place for acquiring new skills, trying new tools, and developing new interests and awareness. The Leonardo and our exhibit design partner, Gyroscope, (www.gyroscopeinc.com) are developing an exciting visitor experience model for young people and adults that will provide unprecedented opportunities for learning, exploration and engagement. We recently completed a Preliminary Design Document that outlines our vision. Click here to download highlights.
Examples of The Leonardo visitor experience include:
Piazza: The main level of The Leonardo will be modeled after the traditional piazza, or town square, were visitors can in choose from a variety of activities. They can enjoy the “digital waterfall,” invent something in The Leonardo Workshop, or smell and taste in the Demonstration Kitchen.
Layered Learning: The Leonardo’s exhibits and programs will offer many learning opportunities, allowing visitors to choose how they engage. The programs will be organized in three layers—Exhibits, Workshops, and Labs and Studios—with each layer representing a deeper level of involvement.
