Capital Campaign: The Leonardo has undertaken a capital campaign to raise funds for the project. The first milestone in the campaign was achieved in November 2003, when Salt Lake City voters passed a $10 million bond to help create The Leonardo.
This bond came with a condition that, before it could be released, The Leonardo must first raise $10 million for exhibits and programs. With donations from public and private organizations, businesses and individuals, The Leonardo reached this goal in early 2006.
The Leonardo is now working to raise an additional $8 million to permit the needed remodeling to begin.
